i got my Hercules Dj Console+soundcard a week ago. i've always been playing dj on parties with friends, and i also own a JB systems classic deck, but i never had the money to buy pitch controlled cd players, so i decided to buy the Hercules DJ console. since i own quite a few mp3 files and just as much cd's, i thought it was a good idea to mix mp3's instead of cd's or LP's. the software with it is quite nice and i'm now able to beat mix quite good. now there are some people to say that digital mixing (cd's, mp3..) is for and you are no real Dj. i have to agree on some part that LP mixing is harder and it looks better but isn't it after all for the crowd? i mean, do you think the crowd gives a if you put on a mp3 or a LP. i'm really happy with my digital console and i'm finally able to do what i would like to do for a very long time: beatmix by favorite songs and see the crowd react on that. what are you oppinions about digital mixing, and have you had any experience with it? here's the link to the official site europe.hercules.com/showpage.php?b=0&p=87&f=1

I used to DJ at a Trance/Techno clubback in my club days, and I used both hardware (albums) and software (digital).
I have to say both are quite useful in the right hands. Yeah digital is less "cool" for some people, but you can do some mixing and tuning with digital that you could never do with vinyl. I myself figured out some good digital beats to layer over some older techno classics on vinyl that gives them a fresh sound.
But on the flipside (pun intended), spinning wax does make you feel more in-touch with the music, in my opinion.
But like you said, it's all about keeping the crown going, and they could care less how you do it...
